Description
With its 46 hectares in a single, contiguous plot on the plateau of Neac, which is a continuation of the famous plateau of Pomerol, Chateau Siaurac is the largest and most emblematic of all the estates in the Lalande-de-Pomerol.
The appellation is situated close to the point where both the Isle and Dordogne rivers converge and is protected on the southwestern side by the hill at Fronsac. Influenced by the Atlantic Ocean, it benefits from good climatic conditions: sunny, warm and dry summers followed by clement autumns which encourage the grapes to ripen perfectly. The soil dates from the tertiary era and is made of alluvial deposits which were formed as the Pyrenees and Massif Central came into being.
The vineyard has 40 distinct plots of gravel and deep clay or clayey-sand that are laboured according to their individual characteristics. This allows for more blending options which make the most of vintage variation. The vineyard is planted with 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet France and 5% Malbec.

With 46ha of clay gravels, Château Siaurac is one of biggest properties in Néac, owned by Artemis Estates. There’s no question that this is one of the best in the line-up, packed full of juicy fresh fruits and a lovely balance. It’s really utterly delicious and fresh without compromising on complexity. There are touches of cut herbs that I haven't found in many of the other wines, adding layers of aromatics, and the tannins are pliable but supportive. Well made by winemaker Pénélope Godefroy.

The 2015 Siaurac has long been making some "nifty" Lalande-de-Pomerol and this is well worth investigating. It has a sensual, fruit-forward bouquet with plenty of black cherry and cassis fruit that does not overpower. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannin. There is a couple of layers of new oak to be absorbed, but there is sufficient fruit to do that and it finished with attractive truffle and white pepper notes that offer fine salinity.

Blackcurrants and leaves, as well as violets. The palate has silky yet dense and smooth tannins wrapped in dark-plum flavors.

Features a tasty core of steeped plum and black cherry fruit laced with dried anise, incense and mineral hints. Reveals a flash of savory through the finish, though the fruit has the upper hand overall.
