Chateau de Maligny Chablis Vieille Vignes 2017
Origin: Burgundy/ France
Grape Variety: Chardonnay
Description
Chateau de Maligny is the largest producer of Chablis wine in the region and is in fact the largest estate in all of Burgundy.
Located in the very heart of the Chablis appellation, the vineyards contain a high concentration of steep, well-exposed hillsides of rocky soil, terrain that guarantees the exceptional quality of the wine. The property consists of 480 acres of vineyard land producing approximately 125,000 cases of estate bottled Chardonnay.
The estate began bottling their own production only in 1974; prior to that date, their wines were sold as bulk wine to other wine companies.
Chateau de Maligny has been honored, by receiving the highest awards possible in nearly every international wine competition. They have also received evert gold medal of any consequence that is awarded in France!
Terroir
These plots are among the best places in the Chablis appellation. This wine comes from very old vines whose plantation dates from 1905, 1926 and 1943.
The important age of these vines, particularly well exposed on stony and arid soil and with reduced yield, brings to the wine a particular concentration and richness.
Tasting Note
Fleshy with ripe exotic fruits and an intense aromatic aspect. The honeyed and rich palate is lifted up by freshness & finesse. It’s unique in its concentrated demonstration.
